The first ever YA Fantasy Showdown begins today.  Now if you are like me, you are probably wondering what that is.  I only first heard about it yesterday myself.

The YA Fantasy Showdown is a battle between 32 characters picked from YA fantasy novels such as Graceling, The Hunger Games, and Poison Study.  There are an equal number of female and male characters and six different ethnicities are represented.  There is also only one character per series included.  There are sixteen battles to begin with and not everyone will move on, obviously.  The ones that do move on are up to you guys, the voters!  =]

The YA Fantasy Challenge begins today, like I said, and the final battle will be on August 23.  You can visit the website here.  Just click on a characters name to be taken to the battle page where there are stats listed for each character, a battle scene between the two characters pitted against each other, the predicted outcome, and the voting form.

So, check it out and go vote!  I can’t wait to see who comes out ahead at the end of the first round!
