First off, I want to mention a few things. Every stat counter will have a different number. That is why it is always good to have a few of them set up for your blog. Also, don’t feel bad if someone has higher stats than you do. It is always going to happen. You just really have to work to get people to come visit your blog. =)
Now, the results:
The majority of blogs get somewhere between 1,000 and 5,000 visits a month. Those bloggers are anywhere from brand new bloggers to bloggers that have been around for 5 years. These blogs also have anywhere from 50 followers to over 1,000.
The minority of blogs get over 5,000 visits a month with a few getting over 20,000. The blogs with the highest amount of visits have been around for at least a year and usually more than that. These blogs usually have over 1,000 followers too.
Now, I mention followers but that is really not what matters here. What matters is how you get your blog out there. Right now I am going to challenge everyone who filled out the survey to do a couple things this month: use Twitter, Facebook, comments, anything you can think of, to get your blog out there. See what it does to your stats! As someone who uses every form of social media to get my blog out there, I know it helps!

This is fascinating. I can vouch and say I’m one who is in the high minority on visits, BUT one year ago, I was at 4,000 unique per month, and now it’s quadruple that. Like you said in your post, it does take a lot of work, but it’s nothing too insanely hard. For me, I did a lot of research on sites like Problogger for SEO and made goals like visiting at least 10 new blogs every week from IMM to put my name out there.
Great post, especially from the POV of a stats-obsessed person like me haha.
I can definitely vouch for the importance of using social media! I’ve only been blogging for a little over a month on my new blog, and only have 56 followers, yet I’m at 3500ish pageviews a month. I am not one to comment on a huge number of blogs to gain followers either, simply because I don’t have the time to, but using Twitter, Facebook, Google +, Goodreads and blog networks can make such a difference:)
Twitter is amazing 🙂 Seriously, not only have I been able to connect with awesome bloggers ( such as yourself ) AND Authors. I found awesome new readers/ followers as well! It made it so great when I had my first giveaway, everyone helped spread the word 🙂
I’m trying to use google+ more, but am a Twitter failure. Am trying to visit more blogs and leave comments, but it always comes down to time….never enough of it!
Twitter is definitely a great way to meet people. But having a Facebook page for my blog also brings in new viewers. Especially since I don’t do memes on my main blog. And this Triberr thing hasn’t really made a difference but I’ve only been a part of it for a short time.
I had no idea that 5,000 unique visits per month was high. I sort of feel like I’ve flatlined since my four month mark with 6-8,000 visits per month and 10-12,000 pageviews. I’m trying to figure out how to increase pageviews for older posts as my site doesn’t like those “LinkWithin” plugins.
Still have no idea how G+ works or Tumblr for that matter…
