I’m sure you’ve seen all the top 10,12, however many books of 2012 posts on tons of blogs (as well as my own) and I love those posts but I wanted to do something a little different. These are 12 books published in 2012 that I wanted to read so bad but never got around to!

#1 The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I’m sure a lot of you are wondering how I haven’t read this book but I just haven’t been in the right mood for it. I know I’m going to cry and I just need to have the right mindset going into the book. Maybe I’ll finally be in the right mood for it sometime in 2013.

#2 Enshadowed (Nevermore #2) by Kelly Creagh
I adored Nevermore and I thought I would die waiting for the sequel. I went out and got a copy the day it released with plans to read it immediately. However, life and review books got in the way and I never actually read it. This one will definitely be one that I have to read in early 2013.

#3 Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
I first heard about this book from my contact at HarperTeen and she raved about it. I was really excited when she sent me an advanced copy and I had planned to read it as soon as I could. Clearly that didn’t happen though and now I have an advanced copy of the second book when I haven’t even read the first. I will remedy this soon though since I do need to read the first book in order to review the second.

#4 Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr
I waited in a huge line for this book at BEA since I’m such a huge fan of Melissa Marr. I was pretty much bouncing off the walls I was so excited to get an early copy. Once again, life got in the way and this book is still sitting on my shelf, unread.

#5 Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
This is another one that I waited in a super long line for at BEA. I’ve been looking for epic high fantasy books and I heard this one might be good. I waited, got my copy, sent it home, and promptly forgot my plans to read it.

#6 The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
I adore Maggie Stiefvater and I love the sounds of this book. From the short excerpt Maggie read at her signing I was intrigued. I put it on my October and November TBRs and I still never read it.

#7 The Diviners by Libba Bray
I adored Libba Bray’s Gemma Doyle trilogy and when I heard about The Diviners I got so excited. My excitement only grew as I read great review after great review. Now I’m seeing it on so many best of 2012 lists and I’m kicking myself for not reading it.

#8 The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #2) by Michelle Hodkin
Another sequel that I haven’t found the time to read yet. I loved the first book and the ending was such a huge cliffhanger that I of course wanted to read the second book immediately. I actually won a copy of this one recently so maybe that’s the push I need to read it.

#9 Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
I’m pretty sure you live under a rock if you haven’t seen all the rave reviews surrounding this book. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Sarah Rees Brennan’s books but especially good things about this one. Some of my most trusted blogger friends adored it so I know I will love it when I find the time to actually read it.

#10 Rift by Andrea Cremer
I actually kind of have a legitimate excuse for not reading this one. I had the ending of Bloodrose spoiled for me and so I haven’t read it yet. I’ve been waiting a little bit so I can kind of forget the spoiler and read it then. However, I don’t like starting a spin-off trilogy without finishing the first trilogy so I can’t start this one until I finally read Bloodrose.

#11 Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
This was actually on my list of most anticipated books of 2012 and I still never got around to reading it. The summary grabbed my attention and the cover only made me more excited to read it. I think my dystopian slump kind of turned me off this book but I hope to eventually give it a try.

#12 Something Like Normal by Trish Doller
This is another book that made my most anticipated list for 2012. I adore contemporary and I really love books told from male points-of-view so I was pretty sure I would read this one as soon as I could get a copy. However that never happened and it’s been moved to my must-read in 2013 list!
What are some books that you missed out on in 2012?
