Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn’t worried. Her life isn’t in danger. In fact, it’s perfect. She’s on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She’s focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.
Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn’s a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he’s crazy or he’s been haunting Abby’s dreams, because he’s talking about goblins, too . . . and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby’s right.
The goblins are coming.
Tyger, Tyger, Kersten Hamilton’s young adult debut, is a wonderful story. It’s so unlike anything I have read and I know that this is going to be an awesome new series.
Teagan Wyllston doesn’t believe her friend Abby when she tells her that her life is in danger from goblins. She only begins to believe when Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives, spouting the same stories. When tragedy strikes, Teagan finally starts to face the truth of the goblins. With the help of Finn Teagan must battle the goblins and save her family. Will they win the battle or is it too late to save them?
I don’t know where to start about Tyger, Tyger. It was so amazingly unique and all around fun to read. Not only was it a fun story to read though but if was full of some funny characters. Teagan and her best friend Abby were hilarious together. I know I got some weird looks while reading this one in public. I just couldn’t stop cracking up. And Finn was fabulous. He was brave and strong and so cute. There were times when I felt bad for him for having to grow up so fast but most of the time I just loved him. He didn’t let his past stop him from living in the present.
The plot of Tyger, Tyger was very fast-paced. There wasn’t a ton of goblin activity in the beginning but that didn’t slow it down. I was constantly reading to find out more. I loved the characters so I wanted to know what happened to them. It kept me reading.
Overall, Tyger, Tyger is a debut to check out. Kersten Hamilton’s goblin story will definitely stand out in todays paranormal market and I can’t wait for more of the Goblin Wars series. I need more Finn and Teagan!
First line: Please, Teagan Wyllston’s fingers curled in American Sign Language as she spoke.
