I doubt this will come as a surprise to any of you who read my review of Beautiful Disaster but I absolutely did not like Walking Disaster. To be completely honest, I didn’t really expect to like it but I wanted to give it a shot anyway. I gave up a little past the halfway mark so here’s my review of what I did manage to read.
Walking Disaster is the exact same story as Beautiful Disaster, just told from Travis’ point-of-view. I hated Travis in the first book and the only real reason I wanted to read this one was because I was hoping he would be redeemed. Yeah, that didn’t happen. I wasn’t sure it was possible but I actually like Travis even less now. He’s crude, mean, and kind of dumb. I just didn’t care for him at all. Also, his logic for doing things (like trashing his own room) is just plain idiotic. Who does that?
Also, Walking Disaster made me hate Abby even more too. Seeing her from Travis’ point-of-view made me wonder what any guy ever saw in her. To be honest, she was a bitch. What she did with Travis and that other guy (can’t even remember his name right now) was so trashy! Who goes out with one guy yet sleeps with another and then goes out with the other guy again? I wanted to slap her just as much (maybe more) than I wanted to slap Travis.
The only upside to Walking Disaster is that readers finally get to find out why Travis gave Abby the really stupid nickname of Pidgeon. You find out in the first few pages though so you really have no reason to read the rest of the book since that’s really the only new information you get from this book. Oh and if you thought the meaning behind the nickname would be profound and meaningful, think again.
Overall, don’t waste your time or money on this book seeing as it’s just a complete rehash of the first book. I have officially given up on Jamie McGuire.
